20-year veteran of the CPD

Willie Cochran was elected in 2007, replacing Alderman Arenda Troutman who plead guilty to fraud charges.[1]

This is ironic, given that Cochran was indicted in 2016 on thefts from ward charity.[2] He is currently battling corruption charges and will not be running for reelection in 2019.[2]

He has contributed about $50,000 to his own committee but has paid himself over $130,000 from the same committee. He receives donations from non-profit advocacy groups such as the Chicago Committee that promotes minority attorneys in the city and A Better Chicago that supports non-profits that assist Chicago education. Note: The People's Lobby endorsed Jeannette Taylor for 20th ward alderman.
