Uncontested but still fundraising

Jason Ervin ran uncontested in the 2015 election after knocking all seven of his challengers off the ballot.[1]

Despite running unopposed, he brought in many donations over $10,000 from businesses including Cicero & Lake Inc, O'Connor Contractors Inc, Union Pacific Railroad and Citywide Disposal.[2] He has continued to bring in donations since the election from developers and business PACs like the Illinois Merchants PAC. Establishment politicians and PACs including Rahm Emanuel, Michelle Harris and the For a Better Chicago PAC[3] are also among his top donors. He has also received donations over $10,000 from unions in the past but has not received any since 2015.[2]

Ervin was under FBI investigation for receiving a campaign donation of nearly $5000 in 2011 from a non-profit organization, though he was eventually cleared of all wrongdoing.[4]
