Pro-cop, anti-worker

Emma Mitts stresses her open door policy, transparency and availability, a rarity among Chicago public servants. [1]

She spearheads the Community Action Council, and is also the chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, so it makes sense that one of her biggest donors is the Illinois Merchants PAC.[2] The vast majority of her contributions are in the thousands and tens of thousands of dollars from large companies, their owners, and the PACs that support them.[3] She has been one of the more anti-worker aldermen.[4] She opposed the Big Box Ordinance and allowed the city’s first Wal-Mart to be built in her ward.[5] The proposed Cop Academy would be built in her ward.[6]
